First off, I’m sorry for the lack of posting, it has been a crazy fun few weeks. First, getting ready to go on vacation is a ridiculous amount of work…but SO worth it! Why? Because The Groblebe Mob (as we’ve recently become known) just spent a FABULOUS spring break together!!
9 days,
1 minivan,
3 kids,
1 (constantly) nursing infant,
4 suitcases,
3 pillow pets,
lots of diapers,
not enough baby wipes,
4 shakes at Whattaburger,
3 sets of water wings,
6 or 7 tanks of gas,
and 2,020 miles….and we made it!!
Actually, it was one of the best vacations of my entire life. Honestly. Me, my sweet husband, four amazing children and nine days to just do nothing but enjoy each other. Simply fabulous.
We spent time with Travis’ parents, Bebe and Papa at their house in Seagoville, TX. Saw a bunch of wonderful friends (love you Tom and Tanya) and enjoyed watching the kiddos discover all of the wonders of Bebe’s house. Then, Bebe and Papa (and of course Freckles the dog…can’t forget Freckles) came with us and we drove down to San Antonio for a quick two day visit. Two days was NOT enough! The first day, we walked from our hotel, through downtown, went to IMAX (Remember the Alamo) and visited the Alamo (yes Diane, we did sing the song and yes, we toured the basement). We even bought the souvenir photo – which I never do but wow…it was a GREAT picture! (The same thing happened to us when Jacob was born. We weren’t going to buy the newborn pictures because, let’s be honest, they are never really that attractive – but his were! Truth was, he was crying…but the picture looks like he’s smiling (at one day old) and BAM! Just like that, we were out $60! OK…back to the Alamo…)
After our tour of “the basement” we went down to the Riverwalk, had dinner, took a boat ride through town…then hiked back to our hotel – a very tired group of people. On the way, Sara, who had fallen asleep in the stroller, actually FELL OUT of the stroller. Seriously, she just slipped right out. And, yes….I, her loving mother, proceeded to unknowingly, RUN HER OVER with the limousine that is our double stroller. Poor thing – went from sound asleep to underneath a stroller in half a second. Needless to say – she will be wearing the seatbelt from now on. In fact, she requests it now.
I’ve got so much more to share….road trip ideas for kids, deep thoughts, our life as a gong show, etc….more soon.
